Welcome to EREC Energy

EREC ENERGYS primary focus is on horizontal axis small wind turbines, 20 to 30 Kilowatt. In addition, we consult on other renewable green energy solutions and integrate different systems.

Designing our 20 Kilowatt Wind Turbine, we looked at what the end user would expect:

  1. Ease of operation and simplicity of unit
  2. Highest possible yield (generating in high and slow wind speeds)
  3. Ease of servicing, using modular principals
  4. Minimal downtime, due to ease of access to nacelle (upside down)
  5. Protection against typhoons
  6. Avoidance of cranes and or highly skilled technicians
  • Generating in high and low wind speeds is made possible by using a passive pitch control, in other words, the blades are not bolted in a fixed position but operate at different angles, subject to the wind strength.
  • Low wind speeds, large angle of blade for easy start, high wind speeds, small angle of wind attack on the blades. The mechanical pitch control is governed by the speed of rotation.
  • Wind Turbines can be, grid tied, grid interactive or stand alone.
  • Suitable for farms, small villages, small factories, in isolated areas for use of telecommunications etc.
  • Can be installed and maintained in difficult terrain where no cranes have access.
  • Multiple units can be installed and interconnected.
  • All unit towers and other steel components are hot-dipped galvanized and painted afterwards (colour of your choice) for long life (25 years).
  • Blades, 5.5 meters each, are carbon fiber, with shafts and bearings.
  • Large disc brake, automatic and or manual.
  • Fail safe trip mechanism.
  • Elimination of slip-rings to convey power from generator to mast, thereby saving on initial costs and maintaince.
